Qatar Visa Status Meanings Explained

Last updated: October 2026 · Reading time: ~5 min

So you checked your status and the portal threw a couple of English words at you — "Under Process", "Ready to Print", something like that. Now what? Time to celebrate, keep waiting, or start worrying? Here's every status message decoded in plain language, with exactly what to do next for each one.

UNDER PROCESS

Meaning: Your application is still being reviewed by Qatar's immigration authorities. This is the normal status in the first days after applying.

What to do: Wait. Tourist e-visas usually take 24–48 hours; work and family visas take 7–10 working days or longer. If it stays unchanged far beyond that, contact your sponsor or employer — most delays are documentation or payment related.

READY TO PRINT

Meaning: Your visa is approved — this is good news. It simply means there is a final step left, usually fee payment, before the visa document is issued for printing.

What to do: Complete any pending payment (your sponsor usually handles this), then download and print your visa. Don't book non-refundable travel until the status moves to Valid to Use.

VALID TO USE / APPROVED

Meaning: Your visa is fully issued and ready for travel. This is the status you want to see before flying.

What to do: Print a clear color copy (see our printing guide), verify the name, passport number, and validity dates, and keep a digital backup on your phone.

REJECTED

Meaning: The visa application was not approved.

What to do: Common reasons include incomplete documentation, errors in the application, or background/health issues. Ask your sponsor for the stated reason, fix the problem, and reapply. A rejection on one application doesn't permanently block future applications.

EXPIRED

Meaning: The visa's validity period has ended. An expired visa cannot be used for travel.

What to do: Apply for a new visa. If you are already in Qatar on an expired permit, contact your sponsor immediately — overstaying can lead to fines.

NOT FOUND / No record

Meaning: The system has no visa matching the details you entered.

What to do: First, re-check for typos — wrong nationality selection and extra spaces in the passport number are the most common causes. If the details are correct, the application may simply not be submitted yet; confirm with your sponsor or employer.

StatusMeaning
UNDER OUTSIDE PROCESSAn external step is pending — for work visas this often means the employment contract step at the Qatar Visa Center (medical tests, biometrics).
USED INSIDE COUNTRYThe visa has already been used for entry into Qatar.
TRANSFERRED TO RESIDENTThe entry visa has been converted into a residence permit (Qatar ID).

💡 The normal journey

A typical successful application moves like this: Under Process → Ready to Print → Valid to Use. If you're stuck on an early stage for too long, the bottleneck is usually a pending document, medical result, or payment — your sponsor can find out which.
