Metrash2 App: Visa Services on Your Phone

Last updated: October 2026 · Reading time: ~4 min

Once you're living in Qatar, you'll hear the word "Metrash" everywhere — at work, at the bank, at the clinic. Metrash2 is the Ministry of Interior's official mobile app, and it's basically the MOI office in your pocket: visa inquiries, residency validity, renewals, traffic services, and dozens of other government transactions.

⚠️ Read this first — who is Metrash2 actually for?

Here's the thing most guides bury at the bottom: to register on Metrash2 you need a Qatar ID (QID) number plus a mobile number. That means it's designed for residents already in Qatar. If you're still in Pakistan, India, or the Philippines waiting for your first visa approval, this app isn't for you yet — use the MOI website with your passport number instead. Come back to Metrash2 after you arrive and get your QID.

How to download it safely

  1. Open the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play (Android) and search for "Metrash2".
  2. Check the developer name — it must be the Ministry of Interior, Qatar. There are lookalike apps out there; don't install the wrong one.
  3. Install it. The app is free.

How to register

  1. Open the app and choose your language (English or Arabic).
  2. Tap Register (first-time users).
  3. Enter your QID number and your mobile number.
  4. You'll get an OTP by SMS — enter it to verify.
  5. Set your login PIN/password. Done — you're in.

💡 Real-world tips

  • Use the same mobile number that's registered with your QID/sponsor, or the OTP may not arrive.
  • Keep the app updated — MOI pushes new services through updates, and old versions sometimes stop working after a while.
  • Turn on notifications. The app can alert you before your residency or documents expire — genuinely useful, and it has saved many people from fines.
  • Most screens have an English toggle if you land on Arabic by accident. Look for "EN / عربي" at the top.

What visa-related things can you do in it?

  • Visa inquiry — check visa details and status
  • Residency validity — see when your residence permit (QID) expires
  • Renewals — many renewals can be started here (your sponsor typically completes the process)
  • Exit permits, family visit services, and other residency transactions

Honestly, once you're settled in Qatar, Metrash2 replaces most trips to MOI service centers. It's worth the ten minutes of setup.
